IT IS TIME!

I HAVE POSTPONED DOING A BLOG FOR YEARS AND NOW HERE I AM, FINALLY I HAVE CONNECTED TO THE WORLD OF BLOGGERS HOPING TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS ABOUT MY OWN EXPERIENCES WITH FOOD AND LIFE IN GENERAL WITH ANYONE THAT CARES.

I FEEL SO EMPOWERED THAT I MANAGED TO SET THIS UP ON MY OWN WITH NO HELP FROM MY HUBBY! YOU SEE…I AM A CREATIVE SOUL AND DON’T DO WELL WITH TECHNOLOGY. I ONLY USE IT WHEN I HAVE TO USE MY….BLACKBERRY, GPS, JUICER AND CAPPUCINO MACHINE…. OR WATCH “COME DINE WITH ME” ON BBC LIFESTYLE(THAT IRRITATES ME BY THE WAY, THAT IT IS A MIXED LIFESTYLE CHANNEL AND NO LONGER JUST FOOD! HMMF..) OK, NOW THAT I’M WRITING THIS DOWN, I DON’T SEEM LIKE SUCH A PRIMATIVE CAVEMAN!

AS YOU CAN SEE I BABBLE ALOT, I AM EXTREMELY OPINIONATED WHEN IT COMES TO SUBJECTS I FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT…ALL THINGS INVOLVING FOOD – YOU SEE….I AM A FOOD CONSULTANT AT A LARGE RETAIL COMPANY..I TEACH STUDENTS HOW TO COOK, DO COOKERY DEMONSTATIONS AND DEVELOP RECIPES, WHAT I AM MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT IS FOOD STYLING…AND WISH I COULD DO IT MORE THAT ONCE A TERM! SIGH. THE SECOND THING I ALMOST ALWAYS HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT IS RESTUARANTS(BE IT A LITTLE DINGY TAKEAWAY TO A 5 STAR) – I CANT HELP IT! THIRDLY, CANCER .BEING A CANCER SURVIVOR AND IN REMISSION FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS AFTER A LONG BATTLE WITH LEUKEMIA REALLY AFFECTED MY MIND SET AND I JUMP AT THE CHANCE TO BRING HOPE TO ANYONE THAT IS IN THE SITUATION THAT I WAS IN.

I’M LONGING FOR WINTER NOW….CURRIES, SOUPS, STEWS, HOT WINTER PUDS, HOT CHOCOLATE WITH LOTS OF MALLOWS, LOTS OF VISITS TO YOUR FAVOURITE COFFEE SHOP FOR FRESHLY BREWED ESPRESSOS AND PASTRIES, MOVIE NIGHTS WITH LOTS OF  MUNCHIES. FOOD GENERALLY TASTES BETTER IN WINTER, YOU TEND TO BE HUNGRY MORE OFTEN AND YOU HAVE LAYERS OF CLOTHING TO COVER UP THE WINTER BULGE! BLISS!

BUT BEFORE WE SAY OUR FAREWELLS TO SUMMER, LET US GIVE PRAISE TO THE WONDERFUL THINGS IT HAD TO OFFER….

SUMMER HAS BEEN FAB..THERE’S NOTHING BETTER THAN SIPPING MOJITOS WITH AN ARRAY OF TAPAS AND PLENTY OF CHILLI POPPERS! PICNICS AT KIRSTENBOSCH GARDENS WITH A BASKET OF ARTISAN BREADS AND GRASSY OLIVE OIL….OOOH AND CHICKEN LIVER PATE WITH A NAUGHTY LAYER OF BUTTER ON THE SURFACE, HUMMUS BURSTING WITH THE FLAVOUR OF CUMIN, BEAUTIFUL SWEET CRIMSON RASBERRIES…WHAT AN AMAZING SUMMER IT HAS BEEN AND BY THE LOOKS OF THE THE WEATHER LATELY IN CAPE TOWN, WE MIGHT EVEN HAVE AN EXTENDED SUMMER!
