I had such FOMO when I missed the 2016 Littlegig early this year. A 24 hour all-inclusive experience of people simply loving life, dressed all kinds of crazy in a beautiful setting, dancing, frolicking and night shopping in the forest and [most of all] eating a myriad of delicious food prepared by various super cool chefs, namely Bertus Basson and the folks of Santa Anna’s. Just check out the 2016 gallery to see exactly what I’m talking about.
”The Littlegig experience is not about big headline acts that we rely on to draw on crowds, it’s a collection of musicians and DJs that move us in the environments we’ve created for them. There are no stages in a traditional sense, but 6 areas that pop up and close as the 24 hour festival journey progresses.” Check out the musical talent that will pop-up at Littlegig 2017.
Fashion, hair, make-up, art & design play a huge role at Littlegig. “Littlegig is a creatively-led festival with dressing -up at its heart. The festival fashion concept store is a curated collection of one-offs…handmade pieces by local designers and artisans, vintage finds, and key items from international festival fashion designers. Menswear too”.
Whether you come dressed up, purchase an outrageous piece at the festival or come as you are, its all good. And you can have your hair and makeup done for the occasion from 11am – 9pm for free!
I am so amped to attend the next one, Jan 28 -29th 2017. The part I’m most excited about, naturally, is the food. “We don’t want to just fill your stomach and get you plastered (although there’s more than enough to do just that!). Our focus is on taste and experience. There’s a Chef’s Table by one of the world’s best upcoming chefs, a chef-and-farmer’s tasting presented by 4 chefs and 2 farmers at the forefront of South African food and its production, a wine tasting curated by a top winemaker and a long string of pop-up bars in fantasical locations.”
Some of the ALL DAY BARS include:
food forest and bar
champagne bar
rum shack
tropical bass bar
wine tasting curated by Miles Mossop (Babylonstoren, Bartinney, Delaire Graff, Glen Carlou, Laibach, Muratie, Tokara, Vuurberg & Warwick)
