Pot luck Club BrunchI’ve heard such great things about Pot Luck Club’s Sunday Brunch offering, that we had to go and try it out for ourselves. I was seriously impressed from the get go. First up, these guys set up a fully stocked DIY Bloody Mary Bar. I’m talking infused vodkas, BACON, the usual suspects and more. Um…amazing right?

Cheeks flushed and taste buds tantalized, our brunch was served at a slow, steady and relaxed pace – making the experience all the more enjoyable and rather social. The food was served on sharing plates or platters between the four of us.

Our first little nibble was warm and comforting vanilla infused mielie meal porridge. Very cute and somewhat nostalgic.

For our SALTY course: Out came Mushrooms on Brioche French Toast with Crispy Bacon, Salmon Blinis and the most delectable Mini Arnold Bennett (Haddock in a creamy, cheesy, egg based sauce). The flavours were rich, beautifully balanced and droolworthy. The salty course is by far my favourite of the lot.

Then the SWEET course arrived. The ever popular Pot Luck Club Fish Tacos  followed by Crispy Calamari with Cape Malay- Style Lentils and lastly a gorgeous Beef Tartare with Japanese Apple, Mustard Aioli and Parsnip Crisps.

And for our UMAMI course. We enjoyed Confit Ducks Legs with the most flavoursome Lentils ( I need more lentils in my life now) and Spring Beets (Beets, greens and creamy labneh – I think). We did move over to bubbles sometime during the meal and I may or may not have experienced momentary blackouts. I do however remember that it was delicious.

Out came this beautifully adorned board of “Spiced Winter Apples”. What a beautiful way to end a meal. It had an autumnal feel but was still refreshing and not too heavy.  Brilliant dessert.

I highly recommend doing Brunch at this super chill and trendy spot. Especially with a group of friends. Great food, great vibe and knowledgeable staff.
